Library and Reading Ambassadors
Meet Cloverlea's Reading Ambassadors:
With thanks to our fabulous PTA we managed to renovate and update our school library to allow children across the school to borrow books each week from a more extensive collection, something that we will continue to add to with the help of our wonderful parents and teachers.
The children above, Daisy, Pearl, Ella and Safiyah, have been selected this year to help as school reading ambassadors, which means they will help children across the school and promote the benefits of reading for pleasure.
Safiyah
As a Reading Ambassador I will share my passion for books - I love reading!
I want to look after the library, which will hopefully inspire other children to read more.
Some of my classmates have the same taste in books as me so I will know what books to choose and they can enjoy their reading and learn as well.
Books are filled with words of laughter, love and happiness and it’s a privilege to have access to them as many children and people don’t.
Our school has many books for us to read so we should take care of them and discover more books.
Daisy
As a Reading Ambassador, I understand that everybody has different learning abilities – not everyone finds it easy at first.
I have helped my brother break down words as he began to learn how to read. I also helped with the meaning of words.
I have encouraged family and friends to share reading books by recommending books and showing them what I have read.
I am an active reader, who can read 450 pages a week.
My favourite author is Katy Kirby because it gives me tips about growing up, school and friendships and how Lottie makes mistakes, just like us. I have read her full collection and can’t wait for her next book release!
Pearl
I really love books and enjoy reading. As a Reading Ambassador I will share this passion with the children at Cloverlea.
I would be really happy to have responsibility of purchasing books for the school, choosing them for our library.
I like reading the week junior because it gives me all the newest book recommendations and authors.
I am proud to have the responsibility of being a Reading Ambassador and I look forward to helping the children in our school Read for Pleasure.
Ella
Reading is my favourite thing to do and as a Reading Ambassador I feel that reading is an important thing for everyone to do.
I always feel happy when I read and I would love to pass down my love of reading so that other children pass it on and the love of reading will always stay at Cloverlea.
The library is my favourite place in the school and I would take great pleasure in keeping it amazing and beautiful.
I think books are the most magical things on earth as they can transport you to places and relax you.
I want other people to love books as much as I love I do because it is very important to expand vocabulary, but also create bonds with other people by reading.
Diverse Books
During a recent staff meeting, Mrs. Brogan shared her enjoyment of a wonderful collection of diverse books generously gifted to the school by the Anjum family. These multicultural picture books celebrate a wide range of cultures and help children feel seen, valued, and proud of their own backgrounds. Many of the stories are ‘own voice’ texts, meaning the authors share the same cultural backgrounds as the characters, offering authentic, respectful representation without the stereotypes sometimes found in more mainstream books. These books will be a fantastic addition to our school and a meaningful way to celebrate and reflect the rich diversity of our community.
Reading for Pleasure
At Cloverlea Primary School we want children to read for pleasure. Please see the link below with ideas of how you can support your child with this at home.
